How do I know? I sampled a three-course cricket meal in preparation for Insectival, the family-friendly festival that comes to Oxbow Meadows Environmental Learning Center on Saturday.
The culinary experience taught me a variety of lessons.
I learned savory phrases like “bacon and cheddar” only go so far in masking the fact that you’re eating a cricket. The delicate seasonings don’t transform the tiny entree into a mini cheeseburger.
Have water on hand while enjoying your crickets.
And don’t be alarmed if you have an urge to finish your meal by licking stray cricket body parts off your plate.
Then again, maybe that’s just me.
